NEAR at International Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics (IAGG) 2026

NEAR was delighted to participate in the session Cohort Data Infrastructures for Aging Research in Europe and Canada at the 23rd International Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics (IAGG) World Congress on . The session showcased leading international initiatives from Europe and North America, highlighting how cohort and data infrastructures can advance innovative, collaborative research on aging and healthy longevity. 

Our Director, Debora Rizzuto, presented NEAR and highlighted the importance of accessible, high-quality data resources for advancing research on aging trajectories and promoting healthy aging. The session also featured presentations from Annemarie Koster (Maastricht University) on the Netherlands Cohorts Consortium (NCC), Emiel O. Hoogendijk (Amsterdam UMC) on the Amsterdam Cohort Hub – Amsterdam UMC, and Parminder Raina (McMaster University), presenting the Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging research platform.

The session was very well attended and sparked engaging discussions on the importance of cohort infrastructures, data accessibility, and international collaboration in advancing research on aging and healthy longevity. It was inspiring to exchange experiences and explore opportunities for future collaboration with colleagues from across the international aging research infrastructure community.

Thank you to everyone who joined the session and contributed to the lively discussions. Together, we are strengthening the infrastructure that enables cutting-edge aging research and supports healthier aging across populations.
