NEAR is looking for a Statistician to assist NEAR users in the delivery of statistical and epidemiologic support to research projects.
Your mission
1) Works as a member of a research team/study team to provide appropriate statistical input in the design, execution and analysis of studies;
2) Participates in the development of operations and procedures for the collection, editing, verification and management of statistical data;
3) Processes large amounts of data for statistical modelling and graphic analysis;
4) consolidate the data of the different cohorts included in NEAR and ensure they are comparable, using harmonized methodology;
5) Participate in the preparation of written and oral presentations that summarize the analysis of data, interprets the results and provides conclusions and recommendations.

NEAR is looking for a highly capable system developer with a central role in the development of the national e-infrastructure for aging research (NEAR). Your daily work will include a mix of system development, maintenance of existing systems, system communication, data management (transformation, uploading, extraction) and statistical strategies for harmonization. The system developer will be part of the research group and have opportunity to carry out their own research projects.

NEAR is looking for a Database Coordinator where the primary task is to enhance the performance of the organization’s database included in the National E-Infrastructure on Aging Research (NEAR). The Database Coordinator will be responsible in implementing standardized database management procedures, and overseeing the installation, security, and upgrading of the NEAR’s database. You will be responsible in supervising and mentoring a team of database managers and to develop procedures to ensure data integrity and quality. Together with a team, you will also help the users of the infrastructure by cleaning, preparing and harmonize data for specific research projects. You will be part in different research projects and act as a project leader in some. This is a temporary position (substitute employment) of up to one year, with the possibility of extension.
Your profile
The applicant should have a master’s degree in a quantitative subject, preferably in epidemiology, public health, computer science or statistics. You need to have good knowledge in the Microsoft office package and statistical software (e.g., Stata, SPSS or R).

Specifically, longitudinal analyses will be conducted to understand how interventions from drug therapy interact with individual aging trajectories as assessed by different biomarkers of aging. The post-doc researcher will mainly be working with NEAR data harmonization for the variables related to the project, and will be responsible for project planning, data preparation (together with database managers within NEAR), and data analysis. The post-doc researcher will spend her or his time at the Aging Research Center (ARC) and the Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics (MEB) at Karolinska Institutet (KI).

NEAR is looking for a postdoctoral researcher to conduct work on epidemiological research on depression in relation to neurodegenerative disorders in older adults. The postdoc researcher will spend her or his time at KI and GU carrying out a project concerning the complex interrelations between psychiatric- and neurodegenerative disorders. The postdoc researcher will be working with NEAR data harmonization for variables related to the project.
Your Profile
The applicant should have a PhD in Medicine and have good knowledge of depression in late life. A Master of science in Public Health is preferred. Experience of working with data collection and logistics within population-based epidemiological studies, data cleaning, quality controls and work of improvements in databases is also necessary. Experience of previous research in epidemiology, aging or mental illness is a merit. Experience in quantitative methods is also a merit.
