Ingmar Skoog critizises the Coronavirus recommendations for 70+ individuals in Sweden

The NEAR steering group member Ingmar Skoog, Gothenburg University, criticizes the maintained recommendations for 70+ individuals in Sweden, put forward by the Swedish public health authority. He opines that those showing no symptoms should be allowed to live by the same rules as the rest of the population, i.e. wash hands and keep distance.

Steering Board meeting 30 November

The NEAR Steering Board held an E-meeting on 30 November, lead by its new chair, Kristina Johnell. At the meeting the upcoming application to Vetenskapsrådet (The Swedish Research Council) for a prolongation of the funding was discussed, as well as post doc positions to enhance the ongoing harmonization of data.

Anders Wimo, professor and principal investigator of the NEAR project SNAC- Nordanstig was interviewed on the national television programme “Agenda”. He criticised the low degree of medical exams performed on elderly during the Covid-19 pandemic and called for an increase in staffing of nurses and doctors in Sweden.
